I taught myself how to think. I don’t think many people in history were able to accomplish this.

For those who aren’t, there is basically one rule: be a contrarian. Challenge everything, and don’t hold any beliefs except as far as they are absolutely required for you to function and operate in life.

A better businessman would have found a way. A better artist would have inspired more passion.

MMA is to martial arts as Pop music is to music.

What’s the difference between experience and art?

There is no satisfaction in getting something you don’t want. And this is the principal problem with contentment.

I don’t see ADD (attention deficit disorder) as a bad thing. I see it as a good thing. It all depends on how you channel it.

Some of the biggest problems with PC culture… People feel pressured to stop being themselves; people stop voicing their opinions; ideas aren’t challenged; people retreat to echo-chambers; dialogue doesn’t happen; cultural ideas and progress stagnate and potentially reverse.

Many men who accomplish huge things on their first journey tend to think they are invincible and think they could have had the same success in any field. It’s a symptom of huge success without huge failure.

People put pressure on others to “vote” in elections. But because of how the USA is structured, everyday we cast waaaay more votes via the dollars we spend than the votes we cast in election cycles. In my opinion, the USA is a business much more than it is a republic.

Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie? Hmm yes, I see why Brad Pitt was in a pinch.

Capitalism is the system that has unlocked human potential by incentivizing innovation. Capitalism isn’t perfect, but if one is going to speak out against it dogmatically then perhaps they ought to consider where all their abundance came from. One can always go live off the grid.

Capitalism is to society as natural selection is to biology.

“Overthinking” implies intention, focus, and some level of analysis paralysis. Nope, not me. The analytical program runs on autopilot, and I just query it for solutions.

Healthcare cant be a “right.” To receive health care requires others to choose to give their time and energy to you. We can create a society where health care is generally provided, but to call it a “right” is to guarantee slavery. This isn’t politics. It is logic.

The way I see it, @facebook became too noisy, and in doing so they lost their value proposition. Now they are trying to find value, and of course they leverage their data to appeal to advertisers, but originally the value was evident. Now it’s convoluted.

Value over marketing. It’s the only way to ensure long term sustainability.

PTO (paid time off) still blows my mind, and it probably always will. Like, why would you get paid while you aren’t working? Take time off, yay. But to get paid while you do that? It makes no sense to me. What a great perk. What a luxury. What a time to be alive.

“Vacation” is definitely a modern luxury. In my opinion, if you are in a place where you can take days, or weeks, or months off from the responsibility of life during which you can relax while your survival needs are taken care of then you are wealthy beyond belief.
