All thoughts are original unless quoted. Had to dig into my twitter for the last two weeks, so some of these are from the previous week.

Which of these is the best approach:

1) Increase taxes on individuals

2) Increase taxes on companies

3) Hold politicians accountable to better spend tax revenue

Funny how one of these never gets proposed by politicians

Transgender people have pioneered the idea of unique personal pronouns. I loooooove the concept. I really, really do. I want one myself. I want mine to be “King.”

The sex offender registry is awful. Stats clearly show this. It punishes people twice, and perhaps selfishly we can argue that it actually hurts society more by giving it a false sense of security. Recidivism rates show this.

“What’s the point in voting? They’re all a bunch of bullsh*ts.” -Art

Art is a 95 year old man that I stop by and talk to. He lives in the house which has a fence across from my office. He said he has never seen the country in this much lack of unity.

If someone campaigning for the presidency promises to increase military spending and take better care of the vets… isn’t that bribery? Like, I totally agree with taking care of vets, but that’s basically promising people money. Principally, it’s a sophisticated form of bribery.

I loved the movie Free Solo. However, the big blunder was in making the girlfriend the protagonist. A stronger choice would have been to make the mountain the protagonist.

It wasn’t that I didn’t want to do it. It’s just that when you work 10 years for something and have nothing to show for it, you inevitably lack an interest in continuing that journey.

[JP Spears talks about the power of uniqueness. A really profound take on individuality. Of course uniqueness has its limits, and having people like you is the basis of all human existence, so it can’t be shunned.]

Love him or hate him, @realDonaldTrump has a gift. I have never seen someone work a crowd so well.

@BarackObama is sooooo likeable it’s crazy. So charismatic. So well spoken. The biggest difference is he doesn’t play the crowd. He tells great stories, but doesn’t appeal to the soul in the same way Trump does. Fascinating differences.

Every year in Oregon there are ballot measures to increase property taxes. How is it fair for EVERYONE to be able to vote on increasing taxes on ONLY a those people who own houses? This is the definition of theft. It’s morally and ethically wrong. There is no way it’s morally or ethically right to be able for citizens to be able to vote higher taxes on other citizens. Perhaps for the insanely right I can justify the concept. But for non-home owners to be able to say to homeowners, “Pay more taxes.” It’s utterly wrong.

I’ll be forthright – I am very selfish. The #1 thing I care about in every election cycle is, are they going to try to take more of my money? If they are, then I vote no. If they aren’t, then we have common ground and we can sit down and have a discussion about policy.

Contrary to popular belief I do not think that voting for Libertarians is a wasted vote. I think it’s a step towards our future. Most Americans are libertarian, they just don’t know it yet.

From a YouTube comment. It’s an interesting point. I don’t agree with it all, and I do not agree with his Implied definition of feminism, however, he hits some strong cords.

“I think the problem is that all these women (as the one in this show) have the idea that somehow these sort of stereotypically ‘masculine’ jobs are THE best thing in life, and at all costs should be aimed for. She does not really seem to understand that being a stereotypically female who wants to be a mother and take care of others, is actually a wonderful thing to aim for, and a thing we should as a society appreciate more. The problem is not that women should not be able to get the same jobs as men, but the problem is that the stereotypical female roles are not appreciated enough. We as a society do not consider being a mother as the meaningful and important task it really is. Instead, somehow we see a CEO of some stupid company who produces some stupid product as an important person, while if you think about it, it’s really ridiculous. Who is more important than a mother in a person’s life? it’s the person that gave birth and helped you become who you really are is she did a good job of it. We should massively start to appreciate that role of women more. These days being a housewife is looked down upon, and in essence women just do not want to be looked down on, and thus support feminism. However, what we all should support is actual femininity. Feminism does not embrace femininity, but rather downgrades it so much that women are left thinking they want the male roles, because at least they get appreciation. True femininity is beautiful and strong.”

The point is to root the policy in grounded thinking so that we can put the issue behind us as a society. With abortion being such an emotionally charging issue, a large percentage of the population is incapable of seeing beyond that. It handicaps the entire purpose of democracy.

Based on a 21st century analysis, we can clearly see what one of the most important evolutionary traits had been for plants and animals to ensure their survival: being liked by humans. Roses, dogs, and rice all played the evolution game well. Perhaps we can learn from this.

Superb interview. Great listening. The woman however can’t grasp the difference between ’empowering women + making men more sensitive’ WHILE still allowing them their free choice. She seems to believe that doing that will result in equal choice. It won’t.

Meritocracies form the foundation of the best systems. Yet the US political system lets uneducated, uninformed, intellectually deficient individuals decide between bosses who likewise are not required to have any credentials. Although antiquated, there is much theoretical wisdom in the concept implemented by the founding fathers’ to only allow property owners the right to vote. We’d be wise to consider the underlying wisdom of this premise if we desire sustainable prosperity in our country.
