Wisdom vs. Art. That is the conundrum.

Talk about an epic moment before. Now this is acting.

Wisdom is rooted in an “I’m not sure” paradigm. But perhaps he was speaking to having an opinion. I have many strong opinions while still being rooted in the “I’m not sure” paradigm. My beliefs are simply my current best conclusions, and I’m willing to change them.

[In response to a friend who posted something his high school teacher said which was along the lines of, “It’s OK to be agnostic as a teenager, but as you get older, you need to make up your mind.” The above was my response.]

Distributed intelligence. Brilliant concept from Steven Pinker.

I’ve thought about this all day, and “distributed intelligence” is a poor term. What we see in language and capitalism is more analogous to an open source system. It’s not about “intelligence.” It’s about anyone being able to make a change to the system. Once changes are made, those changes can be accepted or ratified by others. Ultimately, consensus is reached by the masses as is necessary for that system. Perhaps this explains why the concept reminded me of bitcoin.

Which is more important: empathizing with others or inspiring them?

I heard the “Free Trade” agreement with NAFTA is like 144,000 pages long or something. If it was really free, then maybe we could reduce that to one page.

Great story. Brando is such a legend.

“Man, you’re f - - king good,’ he said. ‘I take back what I said. You’ve got great acting chops.’ ” -Marlon

IMO, Marlon probably meant what he said. I don’t think he cared that the guy threatened him xD That’s because IMO, Marlo’s view of acting had nothing to do with acting. It had to do with living.

Can something be done? Yes or no.

Do you want to do it? Yes or no.

What is the probability that you will succeed if you attempt to do it?

What are the risk, rewards, sacrifices, and consequences of attempting?
Do you the pros ultimately outweigh the cons?

These are the only questions that matter. Even the most emotional situation can be broken down into a mathematical formula for decision making.

There might be a couple other questions that are applicable. Some of them may be offshoots such as “What is your aversion to risk?” Right now, this seems pretty comprehensive.

Breeds of cows have noticeably different general personalities. So my question is, why would humans be any different? Perhaps natural personality differences are the main factor in majorities finding favor within a culture when compared to minorities.

The world and politics is multi-dimensional. If someone doesn’t support any Republican at any level because the party (in general) denies man’s affect on climate change, then that person is intellectually void. The dogmatism of that thinking is both idiotic and destructive to society.

As we much as we love touting fruits and veggies as “healthy foods,” here is a simple fact to consider: every fruit and vegetable has someone who is allergic to it. But have you ever heard of someone being allergic to beef? It’s something to think about.

This article makes me think.

I don’t understand how you can sell rights to a public entity when the long term value of that sale is essentially zero. This seems like a short term play at the expense of the long term WHICH imo is either the result of an intellectual void politician or a corrupt politician. I suppose one could argue “the time value of money,” but that seems like a weak argument given the elements laid out here.

These are the types of thoughts I have when I read something like this.
