It’s hard to understand how busy I am. If I worked 16 hours days, every day, I’d never finish it all. And so do you think I ever get ahead? Nah. I’m not the only one. I think most people’s lives end up here. And yet some people clearly take on more than others. It’s all about priorities.

Do you know his story? I don’t. According to the article, it seems pretty grim, and yet legal details can get crazy complicated. Maybe it was a misunderstanding and the prosecutor said, “Look, we have charged you with 5 felony counts. If you are convicted you’ll be in jail for the next 40 years. But if you plea bargain and save us the time, we’ll try you as a juvenile and you’ll just be on the sex offender registry.” Clearly what it appears he did is not by any stretch of the imagination permissible. It’s atrocious. And yet, I do very staunchly stand against judging other humans based on their past mistakes. He claims to be innocent. The actions of the prosecution as I gave an example of, happen every single day to people. It’s very possible that is the case, and the MLB teams and you (by posting this) are complicit in furthering an unjust condemnation of someone who is innocent.

My question is, what is the point of punishment? The way I see it, once you serve your time, it shouldn’t matter anymore. Out of principle, society shaming him in this way is unjust punishment.
